COSTA RICAN HOLIDAY ADVENTURE
Dec.24th 2010 to Jan.1st 2011

Day 1, Dec. 24th  --- Arrive and drive to Arenal Volcano (Casa Luna Lodge)

Arenal Volcano is a main destination in Costa ...Image via WikipediaToday we will plan on you arriving in the SAN JOSE AIRPORT. From there you will be just over two hours from the Arenal Volcano. We will make direct transfers from the airport via a beautiful drive through the San Lorenzo Cloudforest to the Arenal Volcano area. The final destination will be the Casa Luna Lodge. A Christmas Eve dinner at the hotel is included. We will reserve one big table for the grouup. It is a small resturaunt and a relatively small hotel so we have everything reserved and ready so the group can eat together.

Day 4 Dec. 25th ------ Merry Christmas & HotSprings for Dinner (Casa Luna Lodge)

Today is your day to relax exchange gifts sit by the pool or let us take you out for some activities in the area. We will not plan anything but if somebody is up for a small adventure or hike we can make it happen. In the evening we will plan on leaving for the HotSprings around 4pm where everyone can relax at the Springs. There are rooms to change here and then everyone will move to the dinner area where you will have Christmas dinner.  (Meals: Breakfast)
Day3,  Dec. 26th , ----- Zipline & Rappel Adventure or Gondola Ride (Casa Luna Lodge)

Today you will have the options to do the zipline and canyoneering adventure that was in the first itinerary or those that are up for a little less adventure can do the second option. Both options are going to give you a full experience of the rainforest and the Arenal Volcano where you will have excellent views from the gondola ride. La Fortuna Falls is very close to Casa Luna Lodge and has many stairs but there is a look out point where grandma can just take a look at the waterfall and enjoy the surroundings no need to make the hike to where everyone takes the swim. She can just take a look at the falls and head back to the hote;l we can arrange that no problem. The zipliners and canyoneerers are up for two amazing adventures and will have a full day. In the evening we can plan on bringing you out to Don Rufinos which we consider one of the best places to eat in the country and we will probably work on that reservation the minute you tell us your interested in this itinerary.
 (Meals: Breakfast & Lunch)

Day 4, Dec. 27th ----- Raft the famous Pacuare River or Hanging Bridges/Nature Reserve (Casa Luna Lodge)

Today you will have the tough option of rafting the famous Pacuare River or going to visit the hotsprings of the Arenal Volcano.  For the rafters it is a long day in the bus but you are looking at one of the top five rivers on the planet. It is an early morning of getting up at 6am and getting back around 6pm. It is well worth it if you are looking for adventure. If you want to raft but want a shorter day there is a river that is close by that we can get on that is not as beautiful as the Pacuare but we can still run it and get you plenty wet. For those that pick the hotsprings we can enjoy the hotsprings and do lunch in the town of La Fortuna which would leave you some time for shopping. Usually those that pick the spa and that hotsprings don't complain too much with a few moments of shopping either.
(Meals: Breakfast)

Day 5, Dec. 28th -------------- Drive to Tamarindo (Diria Resort Tamarindo)

Tamarindo beachToday we will drive to the beach where you will be staying at the Diria Resort. It turns out last week when we made your first itin this place had no space. We have been on their wait list for a few months now and we got the phone call. I think grandma must have had something to do with this so in my opinion after getting to talk to Sue on Monday I think this place might fit. It is in a somewhat touristy town. When I say touristy town I am not talking Cancun. This is still Costa Rica but most places around you will be able to speak English, spend dollars, and things will be going on in the area. You are not surrounded by jungle and completely isolated. It is still one of the best locations (if not the best) on one of Costa Rica's nicest beaches (will be a little crowded but again on Costa Rican terms). This area is flat and grandma can get around easily. This is not all-inclusive and is right on the beach. You walk from your room to the beach in literally five seconds. If you hurdle the pool chairs you could probably make it in two or three.
(Meals: Breakfast)

Day 6, Dec. 29th --------------- Beach Day and R&R (Diria Resort Tamarindo)

Today is your day to relax on the beach. If you want to go out to eat there are places in walking distance. The trip will start to slow down now, and you can probably begin to catch up on some bowl games if you're into that.
(Meals: Breakfast)

Day 7, Dec. 30th -------------- Beach Day or Surf Lessons (not included) (Diria Resort Tamarindo)

Relaxing on the beachToday is another day to relax on the beach. If the kids are looking for something to do there are activities that are offered in the area such as sea-kayak, horseback ride, surf lessons, and more.(Meals: Breakfast)

Day 8 Dec 31st ------  New Year's Eve Celebration (Diria Resort Tamarindo)

Today is your day to bring in the New Year!!! There will be a dinner in the hotel that is included in this package. There will be activities with fireworks to watch near the water and plenty going on in the evening. (Meals: Breakfast & Dinner)

Day 9, Jan. 1st ------------ In-Country Flight to SJO airport and then  Fly Home!!!!

Today we will do the transfer to the local Tamarindo Airport where you will then take an in-country flight to San Jose (SJO). You will be flying into SJO Costa Rica and flying out of San Jose (SJO).
(Meals: Breakfast depending on flight departure)

Cost: $1895/person (based on 7 rooms the first 4 nights and 6 rooms in Diria Resort)
Includes: All private transportation & bilingual guide days 1 - 5, meals listed, adventures and tours, all airport transfers, all lodging, 2 in-country flights La Fortuna to Tamarindo  (Dec. 28th Private Charters leave at the time you want in the morning. I would suggest around 9am to have get checked into the hotel before lunch and have the day at the beach.) We could come down on the price a bit but we would need to take the airline flight which leaves La Fortuna for Tamarindo at 2pm and by the time you check into the hotel I feel you lose a day at the beach. Waiting around The Arenal area till 2pm did not seem worth it so I kept the Private Charter for this day. YOu will take the local Nature Air airline flight from Tamarindo to San Jose at 7:30am leave Tamarindo arrive San Jose 8:15am. (Jan. 1st).

Next Years Browse Trip We will take the Guys to sleep in a cave behind a waterfall (CLICK HERE)
