10-Day Costa Rica Adventure Coast to Coast

Day 1 ------ Arrive & Drive to Turrialba Area (Casa Turire Hotel)

Today your private guide and driver will meet you outside the airport and take you to your first hotel. The Casa Turire hotel is located in the area of Turrialba which sits across the valley from the smoking Turrialba Volcano. This is an area a bit off the beaten and touristy path and close to some of the finest rafting you will find anywhere in the world. When you arrive you will have the entire afternoon to relax on the beautiful grounds of Casa Turire. (Meals: None)

Duckie Adventure
Day 2 ------ Ride Duckies on Pejibaye (Casa Turire Hotel)

Today we will leave just after breakfast and make the short commute to the Pejibaye River with your guide. Here we will be putting in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful rivers in small two man rafts called duckies. Everyone will have a guide and a paddle and make their way down a technical class II section. At the end of the run the river dumps into a lake and the Hotel Casa Turire is situated on this very lake where lunch will be waiting for us.

Pacuare Adventure
After lunch you will have some time to relax at the hotel and in the evening we can take you to the a nearby village in the mountains where you can have one of the best local meals you can imagine and enjoy some local music and a bit of the rural culture. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 3 ------ Raft Pacuare & Drive to Caribbean (Almonds & Corals)
Rated as one of the top 3 most scenic rivers on the planet by National Geographic we consider the Pacuare River a must for seeing the best of Costa Rica. We will leave after breakfast and make a day of the rafting trip through the virgin tropical rainforest filled with waterfalls and canyons from start to finish.

After the rafting we will make the drive to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica which is home to some of the best snorkeling. The place you will be staying happens to be my favorite hotel in all of Costa Rica and is not for everyone but almost everyone can last a short two nights. The reason I say this is that it is like extremely luxury camping but it is completely surrounded by jungle and rainforest. You will hear howler monkeys waking you up at 5am and get a true feel for the tropical rainforest plus a chance to see many different animals. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 4 ------ Snorkel & Nature Hike (Almonds & Corals)

Probably my favorite combo tour in the country is to mix a nature hike combined with a snorkel trip. We are going to hike through the rainforest for around 1 1/2 hours and find monkeys, sloths, and other critters. At the end of the hike we will get our snorkeling gear on and swim in the Caribbean to see 35 different species of corals and many species of fish. The Caribbean side is the area for snorkeling in Costa Rica and since you mentioned you like snorkeling I thought you would really enjoy the Caribbean for a few nights. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Arenal Volcano
Day 5 ------ Drive to Arenal Volcano (Nayara Resort)

Today will be a travel day. We'll make the drive to the Arenal Volcano. We'll head out after breakfast and arrive at the La Fortuna area just after lunch. Assuming their is availability you will be staying in the Nayara Resort which has excellent views of the volcano. If rooms are not available where are many other great hotels very similar that will fit the family vacation. (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 6 ------ Zipline & Danaus Reserve (Nayara Resort)

Nayara Hotel
You think you wife might not make the zip so I thought of the perfect zipline for you and the fam. This one in the Arenal area has a gandola ride to the top cable and then it has two little practice cables. If we have not convinced her to do the zipline after that then we ride back down on the gandola which happens to be pretty fun also. The rest of the family can zip down the cables and enjoy the 700ft high adventure with amazing views of the Arenal Volcano and Lake.

After zipping we'll drive to town and visit a small nature reserve where you'll see some more fascinating animals. (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 7 ------ Canyoneering & Hotsprings (Nayara Resort)

It's another really neat adventure today as we make our way down a tropical canyon that is filled with waterfalls. Here we will be doing some rock hopping and when we arrive to the waterfalls we get geared up and rappel down each fall.

In the afternoon we'll go over to the hotsprings and relax in thermal waters completely surrounded by a natural setting. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Beach Day
Day 8 ------ Drive to Guanacaste (Bosque del Mar)

Today is a travel day to the beach. We will leave just after breakfast and say good-bye to the volcano and arrive to the beach around lunch time. Again depending on availability we will be staying in Bosque del Mar or a hotel that is just steps away from the beach. As mentioned before the Guanacaste area is best for R&R and since you will have most of the fun and adventures under you belt these last days are just for relaxing in the sun. (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 9 ------ Beach Day (Bosque del Mar)
Hope to see you soon Wally!

Today is your day to relax. Maybe the kids would be interested in some surf classes? (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 10 ---- Beach Day (Bosque del Mar)

Today would be the day to finish the book your reading because we have a flight to catch on day 11! (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 11 ---- Fly Home!

Transfer to Liberia Airport. (Meals: Breakfast)
